Depending on your perspective, one of the nice things about this year's CES is that many of the PC device manufacturers set up shop in the much quieter and saner Sands showroom. Here are some of the more interesting products we came across while traversing the Sands, including new products from SlingBox, Arctic Cooling, and more.

We also spent some time photographing a few products being shown off at this year's CES that you probably wouldn't expect to find here. Toys are still popular with geeks of any age.

In the picture of the robot lawnmower, you brought up the idea of a robotic gutter cleaner.I'm sure you know this, but iRobot (makers of the Roomba) have the Looj, which does just that. :)

And now I'm embarrassed, I didn't know that one actually existed. Boy would that have come in handy 2 weeks ago.KraftyOne - Friday, January 11, 2008 - link
The iShoes were actually kinda cool. My brother talked the guys into letting them let him try them. He said the acceleration worked well, but when you let off, it braked instead of coasted as he expected it to, so that was wierd. You missed the 3D Camera with the boxer demo. I thought that was one of the cooler things at the Sands. Also, there was the ultra-geeky snap together Unix computer that fit in your hand.

There really wasn't anything to write about. There were the same people there and the same products. We got to play with Microsoft's Surface tech demo, but, you already read about that. That is a wait till it's out then we will be interested.OUCaptain - Thursday, January 10, 2008 - link
I don't suppose CES had any of those newfangled cameras on display. You know, the ones that take pictures IN focus.strikeback03 - Friday, January 11, 2008 - link
Given that a) it's hard to take photos through glass/plastic, esp. once covered in fingerprints; and b) the light levels probably sucked for photography, they didn't do too bad.Ryan Smith - Saturday, January 12, 2008 - link
In fact it's amazingly hard. We always try for great pictures (there are a number of pictures that aren't published because they're not good enough) but CES is particularly bad. If you go by the numbers the press isn't even a huge part of CES, so many booth owners aren't even optimizing their setups for the press. We could do better though, I'll freely admit that. We didn't bring our best cameras partially because such nice electronics have a tendency to disappear at CES.

For the shiny glass, perhaps you could try polarizers. However, you might need a good low noise, high iso camera too. ;)

I wish someone would figure out that it'd be nice to have one that's a bit lower profile, for your shorter HTPC cases!sweetcandysp - Tuesday, July 12, 2022 - link
I wish someone would realize that a https://lewdlegame.io somewhat lower profile one would be excellent for your shorter HTPC cases!
